Yesterday I spoke with Dr. Sam Asirvatham, a focal ablation expert, at the Mayo clinic in Rochester. He shared this gem with me - 'Afib relates to the size of the atria, mice never get it, elephants and blue whales are born with it' By dividing the atria the MAZE procedure reduces their electrical size to more modest proportions.
