I recently had a follow-up EP Study & Ablation at the Cleveland Clinic by Dr. Tchou. I had a Maze Procedure 10 months ago by Dr. McCarthy at CC. The maze procedure was not successful. It did seem to stop my episodes of AFIB, however, I continued to have daily episodes of Atrial Tachycardia's.

Dr. Tchou did the EP Study & Ablations on 08/13/02. He was able to determine that I still have AFIB in the upper area of my left atrium. He indicated that the AFIB seems to cross over to the right atrium. He tried to ablate both the right and left atrium's but was unsuccessful in stopping the AFIB. He mentioned that the left atrium heart muscle was to large for the probe. I am presently back on meds and continue to have daily episodes of Atrial Tachycardia's. I am scheduled to see Dr. Tchou again at the end of Sept. to discuss alternatives. He indicated that there could be a positive improvement as the ablations heal and shrink. I hope and pray he is correct.

Question for those that have had EP Studies and Ablations......... My right leg was very swollen, black and blue a few days after the procedure (the whole thigh area under the right leg). It is slowly getting better. Is this typical of an ablation procedure? Thanks.
