It's very difficult for me to agree with Carl as it seems like he is always right but here I go again. I had Dr. McCarthy's mini chest maze at Cleveland and am perfectly fine and doing more than I ever thought possible for only 13 weeks post surgery. I won't bore you with what I can do but I will say that I feel as normal as can be. Dr. McCarthy is probably one of the best heart surgeons in the U.S. not just because of the maze but primarily because of his experience with heart transplants.
As Carl indicated, there are now many fine surgeons out there for the maze (thankfully) and many very good hospitals. Cleveland was great but Peoria, Salt Lake or Redwood City, CA (Dr. Guadiani)would also be just fine. Plus many others.
