Just a quick response to some of your several questions. Unless you have a specific, treatable cause for your AF (like hyperthyroidism, Remember George Bush, the elder) AF tends to progress to more frequent and longer intervals. A lot of folks are adequately controlled with medications. But if you you have frequent breakthrough episodes... Amiodarone is probably still the most effective med, but not a first line agent. I would let your MD make the choice with your concurrence opn meds.

I had one episode of flutter, 23 months ago, one year and nine months post op. I haven't had any recurrences, and have had no specific treatment. So it may be a temporary bridge, or a very rare combination of an extra beat arising at just the right time at just the right (perhaps wrong is the better term) place to kick it off. I decided to wait to see if it happened again before submitting to yet another procedure.
