I "Moved" this good news message from where it appeared because it was posted as a "response" to an old post from last October.

Cindy: When you post "updates" on Richard's continued progress, just use the "Post a message" button at the top of the webpage and give it a subject such as: "Richard Hoover update" or whatever you think is appropriate. Hopefully, it will soon be "Richard is running! and in NSR!" or something like that.

Thanks for the good news and the name of another surgeon who can help afibbers.

My husband Richard has just had the Maze procedure @ Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, MI. His
surgery was on Thursday 8/8/02 with Dr. Brad Vazales. The surgery went well although he feels quite sore.He
was up in a chair the evening of the surgery and is now walking the cardic unit.So far everything has gone well
except for retaining some fluids which I'm told is normal.Richard has been in a-fib for at least the last 8 yrs and the
meds had pretty much stopped working he had an ablation at the U of M in Ann Arbor, MI in 1999 and then a
week later had a pace maker put in. His a-fib contintued to worsen until his Heart Doctor in Petoskey
recommended the cox/maze with Dr. Vazales. So we've got our fingers crossed for a complete recovery and no
more A-Fib. By the way Northern Michigan Hospitals and of course Dr.Vazales has been wonderful, nothing but
the best treatment.
