Nita, I had the maze by Dr. Duncan at Texas Heart Institute on March 6 of this year. I was very happy with Dr. Duncan and the EP, Dr. Massumi, also. I received excellent care there, and best of all the surgery was successful. I have not had any afib since the surgery. My recovery has been similar to many other maze patients, some complications but nothing that couldn't be overcome. I am still on coumadin, but no anti-arrythmias or other drugs. I think he will let me stop the coumadin at my next checkup if I'm still in NSR. Dr. Duncan is an outstanding surgeon, and followed my progress by visiting me almost every day I was in the hospital.
