I want to apologize to the board members for not posting updates. My situation has not been good and it has been difficult at times to communicate. You have all been wonderful and understanding and I appreciate your continued input and comments. (Carl, thanks for the call yesterday)

I am 10 months post mini-maze III at the Cleveland Clinic. I have had presistent (on and off) atrial tachyarrhytmias since the maze surgery. I decided to wait at least 8 months post maze to see if these tachycardias would decrease. They have not. I have recently consulted with Dr. Tchou at the Cleveland Clinic and he thinks that the AT's could be a single focus generating the AT.

"With the rather descrete nature of the P waves on his ECG, I suspect this may be a single focus atrial tachycardia. Thus, I would suggest the initial procedure of mapping with intent of identifying this focus. With the maze procedure, this mapping would be more complicated and could be quite time consuming. But, I believe this would be a lower risk approach for him if it could be successful. Should this approach not succeed, I would then recommend a repeat procedure where one pursues pulmonary vein isolation approach."

I was originally scheduled for the EP Study / RFA on Tues. July 9th. However, it was postponed. A few days prior to the surgery I felt much better and had very few AT's. I thought that the maze surgery had finally started to work. (I have never given up hope that the surgery was successful and that I am a slow healer) I called Dr. Tchou and we mutually agreed to postpone the EP Study. Unfortunately, the AT's returned and continue to persist. I am presently rescheduled on Tues. Aug. 13th. I am having very mixed thoughts about returning to CC. (Much like Henry A) My first experience there was not the best. On the other hand, I am getting very excited about a potential cure. Very mixed emotions. I have met Dr. Tchou and talked with him several times and am very impressed with him.

Thank you all for your continued support and well wishes.

Jim Roff
