After reading this post by Ken I just had to respond because his experience is the closest to mine that I have found to date. I use to get afib/flutter after a long hike in the mountains usually above 10,000 feet. I use to think that it was related to the altitude. Later, I also started getting afib/flutter after a day or two of skiing. I remember that this usually happened when I was staying in Toas Ski Valley, which is at about 9000 ft. It seemed that all I had to do was drive back down the valley and the afib converted. As the years passed the afib started to come on even at low alt. I remember that I usually had an attack about 3 times a week - like Ken.
Dr McCarthy did my maze on Mar. 29, 2002. I notice that exertion - like climbing up a mountain will sometimes bring on some PACs afterwards. A few times after exertion, I have noticed a run or two of something that lasted 5 or 10 sec. I think it was just several PACs. Before the maze, this would be the start of afib.
