Cleveland Clinic. Got up at 7am. Reported to F17 before 9:15am. Got a blood test & EKG. Then to an EP lab to get a TEE (Trans Esophageal Echo). They gave me a thick liquid called Viscous Lidocaine. I had to gargle with it for a minute or so & then swallow it. Then they sprayed my throat. My throat felt like lead. Next, they fed a tube down my throat as I swallowed. I was sedated a little - don't remember much about it. I was wheeled into a waiting area while the equipment was prepared and the ablation lab was made ready. Around 3:00pm I was wheeled into another EP lab for the Ablation. My hands were tied down on the gurney. I asked for a pillow for my back which they gave me. I was sedated & drowsy. When the mapping was finished and the ablation started, I felt the burning a little. They gave me sedation each time. The whole procedure was painless. At the end, I heard someone say "We got it". I asked Dr Schweikert if there were "P" waves. He said "There certainly are". I was very happy. The procedure finished around 9:00pm. I lay in a waiting area while a room was prepared. The nurse gave me a sandwich to eat.

Hope this helps those thinking of an ablation.

Henry
