Sara:
I posted once after your post, but it must have been lost in cyberspace.
I was interested to read that Dave had the full open chest routine, done by none other than Dr. Cox. I thought he was doing the "mini-maze" exclusively now.
When I went to Cleveland in mid January, I made a point of asking about the apparent difference in recovery (return to SR) between the 2 surgical procedures. I told the cardiologist and the surgeon that I would accept whichever they thought was best, but when I came to, I learned that I had experienced the open chest routine...and I could see by the monitor that I was in SR. Except for a 2 1/2 day bout with Flutter a couple weeks ago (I believe was induced by an antibiotic), I have been in SR ever since leaving the hospital.
Posts like yours several months ago were what helped me through the decision to procede and get my life back. I used to be a competitive Masters swimmer and just returned to swimming this week. I feel so invigorated by the exercise (sore as well) but the high I felt after the workout made me feel young again. (I turned 60 last week).
I am looking forward to reading of Dave's continued progress.
