Troy,
I also had atrial tachycardia a few days after MAZE surgery and was medicated for it. After three months I was taken off all medicine and the atrial tach did not occur again. I did later have episodes of sinus tach. (determined by Holter monitor) and have taken atenolol as needed for this. My MAZE surgery was in Sept. of '99. I have not had any sinus tach in the last several months. My heart rate response and endurance is now excellent. I can (at age 60) exercise continuously for an hour or more. The heart pounding sensation is occasionally still felt mostly at night while resting (laying on left side is worse). But this too is not as bad as it was a few months ago. Things seem to improve with time. Thanks for sharing your story. You are in our thoughts and prayers for continued good recovery. John W. Gross
