PVAs certainly can cause stenosis, as Jack said, and there are newer techniques/tools/tips, etc. being used at some centers (Cleveland Clinic, for sure), which are showing great results and no strokes, clots, or stenosis yet, to my knowledge. Having had a radiofrequency ablation which only helped the flutter, I feel fortunate to have had an EP who knew just how close he could get without doing irreparable damage (or maybe I was lucky). Knowing what I know now, I would consider an ablation for afib ONLY from a doctor who could provide concrete evidence of success rates. That would be the CC for me.
