Don,
Glad your home. I had my Maze on 12-4-01 at THI . Dr. Duncan did my maze. I had no skips or irregular beats until about the 17th day after surgery. I had a Holter done about 3 weeks later. Showed I was having a number of PVC's but no a-fib. I also tried a small dose of Rythmol for about 3 weeks. It seemed to really help. Mixed in with that were some runs of rapid beats 5-8 at a time. Then they would stop. Happend about every 3-4 weeks. Coughing would stop them. I also had some what I called slow beats.Regular but like one skip beat after another. Get up or coughing would stop them as well. I didn't have either if my heart rate was up.

Lately I have had more of these at about 4 1/2 months. Had another holter. Still showed PVC"s and 2 runs of about 5 beats and 7 beats.

I have had some problem sleeping due to the skipped beats while lying down on my back or left side.

I don't know if this is the type of things your having --but they sure seem to be common to maze pts.
I'm going beck to Houston last of May for ECHO to be sure the ateria are working . The P waves are still somewhat flat.

Good luck & God Bless,

TC
