Thanks Terri for a nicely written description of you and your husband's circumstances. First of all, it seems that unlike many of us, you had access to a reasonably knowledgeable cardiologist and EP. I think that they are right in what they are suggesting and Mayo is a very good place to be. Making the decision to have a maze isn't easy until you are past it and wonder what your fear was all about. It's also tough when it seems like AFib is no big thing. But, it's effects are subtle and most importantly, the decrease in quality of life becomes very pronounced. The maze will cure this thing and he will have a whole lifetime of being active and fit. At his age, his recovery should be reasonably quick. I am much older and by a couple of months was pretty active again. Good luck and keep us updated on your plans.
