Michelle, I am glad you have posted on the board. This will let other Mazers share their story. I am 40 days post op. (You can read my story that was posted earlier.) I was to get a pacemaker after all medications had failed. While seeking a second opinion for AF ablation I received information on the Maze procedure. I went to the web and did my research. I told my cardiologist that I was going to have the Maze procedure done instead of the pacemaker. He got very upset and told me I was crazy. I set out for Cleveland as a self referal to have the Maze done. While they were doing the pre-op angiogram they discovered I had 4 clogged arteries. Dr McCarthy told me there was an opening the next morning and I should check in at 8am. I had my quadrupple by-pass, maze procedure and PFO closure 2/27/02. Since I have had AF for 10 years and my quality of life was going down hill I deceided the maze was the way to go. I am so happy I deceided to have it done as looking back I was a heart attack victum looking for a place to happen. Yes reading my postings I did have a few bumps but I have not let them bother me. I put my faith in the Lords hands and he has carried me through this.
This website has provided much comfort for many people and I am forever greatful to Jack Drum for it. I hope my comments will be helpful. Remember "Trust in the Lord with all your heart.....and he will make your path straight" Prov 3:5-6 God Bless
