I have been corresponding with Jack Drum via e-mail about my boyfriend, Ed, who has AF. Jack asked me to post his story. Ed has been through everything that many of you have gone through, i.e. numerous medications, cardioversions, ablations. All of these failed except the ablation which he had in Dec. 2001. It was a "success" but it only lasted for three months. We later learned that it wasn't a permanent fix and that there was a significant chance that he could go back to AF. I just thought that once he had the ablation done that he'd be fine. I am sure you all can relate to the what he has gone through and I am hoping and mostly praying that his outcome from the maze procedure will be as successful as all of yours. The most disconcerting of all is the fact that his cardiologist never mentioned this procedure. I found it on the internet.
Dr. McCarthy will be performing the surgery on April 22. We are very hopeful about this. Ed is a bit anxious and rightfully so. Please remember to pray for his peace of mind and pray that the surgery goes well and that he'll be another success story. Also pray for Dr. McCarthy and his team that God will lead and guide him throughout the surgery.
I have found much comfort in this website. It is great to hear everyone's stories. I will keep you posted on everything as it progresses.
