Paul's description is consistent with what I've learned and personally experienced. One thought that springs to mind is what happens with the heart /after the Maze/ in the long run in terms of expansion? I know for a fact that my heart's volume was reduced during the Maze operation. Since I train (run) almost as much as I used to, I expect the heart's volume to increase again over time. Is this assumption correct? If so - will the scarring that prevents the heart from Afib "follow" the heart's expansion, or is there in fact a risk of a diminishing effect of the Maze as the heart is expanding? I'm not trying to "invent difficulties where there are none", but the thought kind of struck me when reading Paul's entry. It's important to point out that I myself has been training intensively since my Maze in February '99 and I have not experienced any difficulties. I've also run some races, and those have been trouble free as well. So from my own perspective, nothing points at any negative effects of /heavy/ training after the Maze.
Paul - any comments on this?

Best regards,
Anders
