Constrictive pericarditis can be pretty serious as you probably know. I have had off and on bouts with inflammatory pericarditis since my surgery in January,2001, but it has been successfully controlled by taking Indocin - I believe steroids can be used for more serious cases. I know that if the constriction gets more severe and limits the hearts ability to work properly, surgery is required. I would think that he is at the best place if he is at the CC. Best of luck to him. The condition can be extremely painful.
