I am a 44 year old male and will be undergoing my second mitral repair operation (first one 23 years ago) as well as Maze procedure on 2/6. I had a S/A ablation a year ago and a St Jude's ventricular pacemaker inserted, but stil have underlying afib, hence the mazes procedure. Will I need a 2-lead pacemaker implanted after the surgery? If so, when would this be done postoperatively,during the hospital stay for the mitral surgery? Later? Under normal circumstances the hospital stay for mitral valve surgery is 4-5 days. With maze procedure will it necessesarly be longer? Anyone else had a similar situation? Thanks!
