I'm a new reader of this Web site. Just read Jerry's then Russ Boyce. I was referred here by Murph. I will read more stories but when reading Russ about Sotolol and loss of memory I wanted to inquire. I've had AF off and on for a little over a year. More recently having daily episodes one lasting 8 hours and many at 3,4 & 5 hours. I'm in one now for about an hour and it's 3AM in the morning. I was on Toprol for about 8 month without any problems and then I began having regular episodes Jan 19th and just about daily every since so my cardiologist put me on Sotolol. First I was on 60mg twice a day with no help. Then 120mg twice a day and no help. Now on 160mg twice a day and not much better and the doc. says I'm on the max dose. Last episode was about 48 hours ago and it lasted over 4 hours. Dr. Amidon said he wanted an EKG during my next episode to verify some info. but thought he would switch me to Flecenide. Russ said Sotolol cost him his memory. What does this mean? My doc never mentioned anything like this. I'm very active, playing tennis regularly and also ride the exercise bike and lift weights and he says OK to keep up the exercise. (not during episodes of course). With the strong dose of Sotolol I feel what I call medication fatigue as I don't have the energy or stamina I had while on Toprol. Any comments on Sotolol, Tennis & Exercise and having AF. And what about Flecenide? By the way I just converted. Thank you Lord. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Bob Owen, Redmond, WA 2/17/01
