At times the only thing we have going for us is hope. In your case you have not lived even half your life. If AF is causing a cardiomyopathy for you then you need to get the ventricular response under control as soon as possible. You can do this with meds or AV Node Ablation and and Pacemaker insertion (you can still have the maze later). If you keep your rate under 100 when in AF your heart will become stronger. Trust me on this one, I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy two years ago this month. My cardic function today is low normal but I am very concerned about what the future holds. I wish there were easy answers for us but we have to make the best of the hand that has been dealt to us.

If you will it strong enough, plot a course, and you can be one of the maze success stories in the not too distant future.
