As an alumni of the CC (8/8/00), I would like to thank Dr. McCarthy for the GREATEST GIFT of all---NSR!! I wasn't one of the lucky ones who stayed in rhythm post-op.. Although my first couple of days were good, I then slipped into a-fib and it took more than a week to get me under control. I remember Dr. McCarthy telling me that if there was a prize for one of the more challenging cases, I would probably win it!! However, I have been in NSR since my discharge and am so very greatful to be able to fully live life again!! To anyone who is living today with the a-fib 'ball and chain', I would simply say that the thought of the surgery was FAR MORE daunting to me than the actual process...IT WAS SO VERY MUCH WORTH IT!!
