Tim: Like Ed, I also received some info from at least one pilot when I had posted on another site that I was always affected by altitude. I do remember one saying that he had been cleared by an FAA physical to fly again within six months.
Dr. McCarthy (or other surgeons) might be the best sources for input re: pilot/mazers, as I would imagine they would remember such patients and perhaps even know the outcome of their stories (or would be willing to find out for you).
