Even though I have had a few episodes of A fib four months post maze, I am still convinced I made the right choice to have the surgery as opposed to an ablation. My surgeon gave me a lot to think about when he stated, "We have the hammer, and we can see the nail!" As opposed to the electrophysiologist blindly zapping you. At
the Nebraska Heart Institute (where I had my procedure performed), out of the 26 maze procedures that have been performed, 98% have remained A fib free.
