I think it depends how much the AF bothers you. At age 36 it drove me absolutely crazy. I agree that the cure rates for all procedures are greatly inflated, especially RFCA - I have never talked to anyone on any of the AF sites that has been cured by RFCA. Lots of people have been cured by Maze. I guess you would have to consider me cured although the price was a permanent pacemaker. Remember Maze does not cure PACs, PVCs, and Atrial Flutter is commonly not cured.
Heart Surgery itself is not that bad, I had 3 days of misery, one week uncomfortable then I was fine. After the first week is over you forget how bad it was. The time goes quickly.
