Mike: I'm disappointed that you have reverted to Afib already, but it may be temporary, given that all of the scarring from the ablations have probably not completely healed yet.
Is your HR any lower while in Afib now compared to pre-ablation? That turned out to be the only long-term benefit from my ablation, as well as those of other posters.
I believe you said before that your doctor was not a fan of the maze-do you know why not? Perhaps he needs to correspond or talk with Claude Hepworth's cardiologist, who it would appear is impressed with what he has seen.
My own EP, who moved out of town shortly after referring me to the CC for the maze (his moving was NOT related to the referral!)had not spoken with me post-maze until last week, when I called him after getting his current number from another member of this board. I thanked him (for the first time) for changing my life, and asked if he was still referring patients for the maze. He said that he still thinks it is the best almost sure cure for Afib, and while other techniques are progressing, he feels it will be several years before the long-term effectiveness of any of them will be known, whereas the maze has a long-term record which is very well documented, having been performed now for some 15 years or so.
Perhaps a little shot of a drug will convert you to NSR and you will stay there. We will continue to hope so.
