I believe Carl is correct in that all Maze surgeons have utilized Cryosurgical tips to ablate certain portions of the maze. I know my surgeon did.
I have been doing some checking on this new Bipolar
RF, or microwave process. I believe that is what the UPMC article is about.
There is one surgeon in Milwaukee who is more or less the pioneer in the US
on this, but I have been unable to contact him. There is one surgeon on
the board that uses the microwave and I plan to call him this coming week to
try to get some clarification on it. Medtronics makes the BiPolar tips but
I couldn't find anything specific on their site
