If I am wrong on this, someone correct me. As far as I know the heart catherizations is only for information of any blockages, to determine if they will need to do any bypasses while they are in doing the Maze. The information of blockages may also determine whether they do the minimal or full open maze.
This is only my opinion, but I feel that the full open heart is a quicker cure for AF, but the minimal gives a quicker recovery from the procedures, as to the soreness and being able to do more physical activities.
