Henry,
Dr. McCarthy was also my surgeon and Dr. Hammer was my cardiologist while in Cleveland. I was also on Toprol and Aldactone for approximately 3 months after surgery. The Toprol seemed to help keep my heart quieted while healing and slowed my rate down to normal levels. I had no ill effects from the Aldactone.
