Jeanne: Your opening paragraph, above, gives us all info which you have NEVER posted before. In my 4/20/01 post from the AF Page Message Board, I asked if you knew you were getting an experimental procedure. You never, to my knowledge posted any of the info you have posted here today in your response above.
I can understand your disappointment, particularily in light of this NEW info you have provided. I know I (and expect that John, Ed, & Jack) would not have responded as we did had we known these facts.
To answer your own question, yes, we DO want you to be honest, and today you have added to the info on your very different maze procedure.
I, for one, would hope that you would continue to post, but with full disclosure of what you have been through so others might benefit from knowing that, at this point, they sure DON'T want the "beating heart" maze.
Just posting that the maze didn't work for you is doing an injustice to readers and the many successful "mazers" who only wish to share their experiences with others who have been sorely served by their physicians' lack of knowledge.
As you know from postings on this board, some people have had some unpleasant experiences with infections, and other complications, but I don't remember any(please correct me if I'm wrong) who have said they didn't benefit from the maze and am glad they did it.

We have seen postings of a couple of people who became legally blind because of amiodarone, others who have had unnerving side effects from the various drugs, but we don't have any postings yet from (unlikely) the people who may have expired prematurely from the damage done by the drugs, strokes, coumadin related brain hemmorage from accidents, etc., or from any of their friends/relatives.
Those of us who have had the maze, even the ones who were not 100% successful, may seem like we are "advertising" or over-promoting it, but please try to put yourself in our place: Had your "experimental" maze been successful, would not you be praising the results?
Please, Jeanne, continue to post here and on other sites, just provide the details.
We WANT you to find a cure for this dreadful curse, and I imagine that, should you find it, you will learn about it here, through someone else's experience. I certainly hope to be one of the first to congratulate you when it happens.
By the way, did you have the ablation you posted in April that you were about to undergo?
Best wishes for the future,
Carl
