Mine is a different story than these. All of my life I had a slow heart rate - 42. Doctor's called it an athlete's heart (ha! Ha!). After I started my A-Fib problem, my non-Fib rate was in the 30's (bradycardia) and the plan was to put a pacemaker in after the Maze. I came out of surgery and my rate was 42. Dr Beckman said wait on the pacemaker - let's see what the heart will do now that it is actually beating. The next day it was 51 and on the 6th day it was actually 67 and has remained there since (12 days). My blood pressure is up to 112 - one day I had weird things happen -hot/cold spells- they said that I was flushing toxins out of my organs because my circulation had been so poor for so many years.
I notice my heart rate increases fast but comes down fast.
I think that the Maze puts you back the way you are suppose to be - especially if you can do it before there is any permanent damage from the A-fib.
