As Jack says, you will recover quickly, I am sure, but exercise will speed it up even more.
It really sounds as though you really needed this emergency surgery. It is good to know of another surgeon who is so willing to tackle what sounded like a real tough job, on such short notice. That alone, is a miracle these days.
